Introduction to Probability
Section 1 of 3: What is Probability?

Probability is the branch of mathematics that deals with the likelihood of events occurring. It provides a way to quantify uncertainty and make predictions about random phenomena.

At its core, probability theory helps us answer questions like:

  • What are the chances of rolling a 6 on a fair die?
  • How likely is it to draw an ace from a standard deck of cards?
  • What is the probability of experiencing rain tomorrow?

The concept of probability is fundamental to many fields, including statistics, physics, economics, computer science, and artificial intelligence.
